About the owner

Nina has had a lifelong love of flowers and had a dream to grow a garden just like Mary in The Secret Garden when she grew up. She would save money from neighborhood pet sitting jobs as a kid to buy flowers for her own small flower garden at her New Jersey childhood home.

Fast forward to years later – Nina now lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband and two french bulldogs.  For the last twelve years, she has worked as an occupational therapist serving her community with the local hospital’s home care service. It has been a privilege to have worked with hundreds of fellow Western Massachusetts neighbors in their time of need — offering her expertise helping those maintain their independence after illness and injury.  She has a special fondness for working with palliative and hospice patients and considers herself lucky to have met so many wonderful people over the years.

Flowers have always been a source of happiness for Nina.  When in her garden, at the flower market or a local nursery she experiences a warm sense of peace and belonging.  Over the years family and friends have asked and entrusted her with flowering their special events which has brought her tremendous joy.  However, she was never quite sure how to take her passion for florals and turn it into something bigger until her little sister brought her the idea of a vintage flower truck and said, “you could do this.”  It immediately resonated and the stars aligned.

In naming this new venture, it felt right to take it back to where it all started and the love of flowers began — paying a special tribute to the New Jersey state bird, the American Goldfinch — Finch Flower Co. was born.  She is so excited to share her love for flowers with the community she has grown to love here in Western Massachusetts.  She has an appreciation for the Pioneer Valley’s deep rooted values of shopping locally, support of local farms and small businesses.  She believes we all benefit when this happens and is thrilled to own and operate a small business in this incredible community.
